ParticipantDave – thanks, that was a great idea (dunno why I didn’t think if it!) The resistors are all 1k, so that’s an easy fix. Triac on order, so we’ll see if I can get it to live again.
Iadom – thanks. I come from a TV repair background where we used to repair stuff to component level, and all manufacturers used to issue detailed circuit diagrams. I just assumed white goods would be similar!
Is there any reset procedure after applying the fixes, or will it just work, assuming I’ve tracked down all of the faults? I ask because the machine used to go through 4-5 mins of the cycle before dropping to “3 minutes”, (see my OP), but it now jumps straight to 3 mins, immediately after pressing start. I don’t think I changed anything, apart from running the error check program and blowing the motor completely when I hard-wired it (it had seized solid – blew the windings when hard-wired).

ModeratorNo reset as such, there is a procedure to erase the last known error from memory but there should be no need to do that.

ParticipantMany thanks all. Machine now running again. I had to change the triac, the associated 1k resistor, the 220 ohm gate feed resistor, the darlington pair chip and of course the pump – basically everything forward from the micro, but at least that survived. It’s just done a full cycle wash and is almost good as new! Many thanks for all the help.

ParticipantThanks for the tech info very much appreciated.. Last error was EF5. Run the machine empty and it spun no problem. Put a good size load in and it wouldn’t spin.. put more load in and tried again very patiently … No spin. Motor or control board? gut says board so one order but if there is a way to check for sure it would be appreciated..
