My 16830 was very noisy on drain, suspect (sounded like) noisy bearings on the drain pump – as the pump was clear of debris. I replaced the drain pump (thanks for the prompt delivery from UKWG) with part 1249206218 (removing the black top section) and tested the rinse/drain and all is well.

The machine now makes a similar but slightly better (if thats the right word?) noise (like failed bearings in a motor) but only once per wash cycle rather than whenever the drain cycle was running. This noise occurs towards the end of the wash cycle.

As yet I have not tested drying so am not sure if it occurs during drying.

While replacing the drain pump I noticed an almost identical pump (motor part at least) near to the drain pump, clipped/screwed to the bottom of the machine. I am not sure what this pump does but could it be the cause of the noise?

    thanks in advance

Circulation pump to spray water on the clothes.

Yes, if it is what I think it is.

I’ve not looked it up but that sounds to be a recirculation pump which will run rather a lot during the wash and, they do fail as they run so much.

Righto, that makes sense to me. It looked like the same pump motor as the drain pump – if this is the case then I will get another motor ordered up and replace that one as well 🙂

can you confirm if the motor is the same part?

Usually the recirc pumps are rated higher as they run longer and, trust me, they NEED to be right as the cheapo ones have been known to overheat and err, go up in flames.

I’ve only ever seen it really bad once in a call where the chap used the cheap pump to replace the original which didn’t have a TOC in it. Six month later he need a new kitchen as well as a new washing machine and a few other bits and bobs. He was none too impressed with the damage from the fire service either.

I’d email Dave and get the right one. 😉

ok, will do – seem to remember (inquisitive mind) that I looked at the rating sticker on the motor and it did match the 30W 0.2A pump that was on the drain but I will double check and get the correct part for the machine.

Certainly dont want any fires / overheating – as an electronics engineer it would be a little embarassing for me 🙂
