ModeratorThis ancient machine has a badly leaking pump.
ENR 605631299
FNR 108065458
Looking on TDS dvd I can see two ‘pump seal repair kits’645426140 & 645430536
Which do I need, are they still available and if so how much are they?

Masterpart part number AG5112, the whole pump for about a tenner 😀
Seal kits now obsolete.
Dave.

Sounds reasonable, I’ll bet the kit cost twice that when it was available.
Thanks.

Quick question, not done one of these before, looks as though the front panel will come off, is that correct?

Yep, front does come off, you can change them from underneath as well 😀

Did this this morning, Dave, if you can change the pump from underneath on this machine the you are a better man than I am Gungha Din. The base is completely enclosed, with the metal base welded to the cabinet. Did manage to remove screws from bottom of cabinet front and with door seal and interlock off, prised the bottom of the panel out far enough to effect the repair. 🙂

One for the “what’s the most useful thing in you toolbox” thread…. a can opener 😆
Seriously, from memory the base wasn’t enclosed but then it’s a long time sine I changed one. Sorry for the misleading info.
Dave.

I don’t know if you are familiar with the old Hotpoint 1200 Countess wringer machine, it had a back panel and a small wire grill underneath, everything else was accessed by removing the metal top surround. When they cross trained the Basic and Auto engineers they forgot to teach some of the things to each group that the others took for granted. One Auto engineer went to do a Countess gearbox change and literally split the welded seam all round the bottom of the cabinet and lifted it off, just as he had been shown on a 1400 twin tub, then just dropped it back over the tub and left it hanging loose. 😯

:eeek:
I think I saw one about 20 years ago but no, I’ve never worked on one.

The base of these has always been enclosed but in Daves defence, the pump can be changed from either the front or rear. BTW I always fit gen pumps on these after a string of filter failures on pattern ones caused blocked pumps which subsequently melted, blowing the modules. Customes like these machines and willingly pay the £60 odd a gen pump costs.

Can you get gen pumps for these, all I could see on TDS were repair kits which according to Dave are now obsolete.
