ParticipantMachine has E20 problem. Cleared out pump filter. Worked again. Then machine displayed E20, filter clear, water left in drum. Manually drained. Pump problem. Removed pump and it was dead. Purchased replacement, installed but still not working. Pump definitely works, just not when installed in my machine….. Have pulled off the wires on the pump connectors but can’t see any problem. The old pump looked corroded so there may have been water dripping on to it. Does anyone have any idea what I should be looking at now please? Really need to get this machine working again and don’t like the idea of buying a new machine. Machine works, spins, fills with water (great!) just doesn’t seem to send power to the pump. I can also hear a couple of clicks when I ask the machine to do a drain cycle.
Any help would be REALLY appreciated. Any experts out there please?

if water has dripped onto pump then there is a good chance it will have blown nthe main pcb trace the wires back to the board from the pump and look for any damage. plug out first and if its the pcb its going to be expensive.

Thanks so much for your reply! I have been scouring the boards to find same problem and thought the PCB might be involved. I think the PCB is is the complicated electronic circuit board? Think I will need to take off the lid to the machine for access to PCB? I managed to replace the pump by going in from the back but it was a squeeze.
Is there a way to test if the PCB is the problem before going ahead and buying a replacement please? Think there is a place that does reconditioned ones for about £29 (mm, that’s trade price – ex trade is £47) – does that sound right? Thanks for your advice.
Will the damage to the PCB be obvious if the pump has shorted it out?

Worked out how to take lid of machine off. Two screws on back then it slides off forwards. Found the PCB inside a plastic box screwed to the inside right of the machine. Checked all the terminals and can’t see any burning or sign of damage. Pulled them on and off hoping to clear any problems with seating. The actual board was quite sooty – is that normal? gently cleaned off the soot.
Reconnected the power and put machine on drain cycle. The pcb was clicking but no response from the pump. The spin came in as normal. It is only the drain pump that is not taking a current. Can the problem still be the pcb. Is there any way to check to see if the pcb is sending a current to the pump or if the wires are bust (is that possible? They look ok). Don’t want to spend £49 on a reworked PCB if mine is OK and the problem is something else, but any ideas on how I can check please?
Any help really appreciated. Now handwashing and using the machine to spin and using the emergency drain pipe to let the water out!
😥 Is there some pressure switch that would be interfering with the pump?January 20, 2010 at 10:01 pm #309296suedehead1

its definately the board if you trace the wires fron the pump they will go to a small square black triac which will be visibly damaged they are only replacable by qualified people i dont even do that myself.
the board is normally “sooty”.
i use “repaired” pcbs all the time the problem is if there is a leak onto the pump it will blow the board again.January 21, 2010 at 8:52 am #309297DIYDIVA

Thanks again for your advice and input. I guess this might be down to the fact that there is a small tear in the rubber seal on the door/drum which, although it is at 90 degrees to the bottom, probably drips out water when on a certain cycle – I recently put too much powder into the machine……. had a flood so no doubt that’s when it started to happen. Guess replacing the door seal is a must if it ever works again.
So, I will have another look, take out the PCB, guess I will need the numbers off it anyway and look for the triac (just Googled it to see what it looks like!) though I didn’t notice anything that looked frazzled yesterday. Then it’s a case of marking up all the wires and sending off the PCB. The only frustrating thing is that the company that repair the modules charge so much even if the module is OK (ie you only get 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the cost back – so it will cost about £30 to find out it’s OK). Cheaper than a call out I guess and if it is still bust after changing the PCB it would have to be a new machine anyway. Shame the LaV 74630 is a good machine – made in Germany – has been on at least once, normally twice, sometimes 3 times a day!
Before I send off the PCB, could you please confirm that using the same make of pump, identical to the one I took off, but which is 34W instead of 30W would have no affect at all on the pump working? It’s just more powerful isn’t it?

Hi,if you contact EMW phone N0 0115 9652118 they will normally test the pcb.If there is no fault found they will return it .Not sure on the price but it will be nowhere near the £30 you suggested.I sent them a board from Spain that was badly damaged and the repair cost was just over the £30 mark.
Just give them a call. SteveJanuary 21, 2010 at 10:57 am #309299DIYDIVA

Just tried EMW but they don’t do AEG boards – shame really as much more reasonable on their refund if the board proves to be OK and not the problem.
