ParticipantEverything appears to work normally apart from the fact that the motor does not turn the drum at all and error E50 appears. It has been suggested to me that the motor capacitor might have failed and that I could try replacing it. However I have searched the net and can’t find that capacitor, nor a parts list or diagram for this model. Can anyone help with this problem? Many thanks to anyone who replies.

The machine may have a 3 phase motor. An electronic inverter circuit board controls all motor actions on these type of machine. It stores dangerous voltages even when the supply is off so not to be repaired or serviced by any who isn’t competant to do so.

Carbon brush motor in this one. E50 faults refer to the motor, so the brushes are the place to start.
Useful article HERE.
Power off if you intend to tackle this yourself.

Progress! I’ve now removed the motor and lo & behold it DOES have brushes! They are well worn and the commutator looks ok so I guess the next step is to replace them and hope that that does the trick! The brushes are inside a plastic casing and the code on the motor is AC-Electronics Code 132 079 902. There is also UOZ 112 G 70 on the motor label. Any idea where I might get some with rapid delivery? Thanks.

I have now ordered the brushes from the UK Whitegoods spares dept. The photos of the brushes were particularly useful. Many thanks to those who clearly put a lot of time and effort into maintaining this excellent site.
