AEG Lavamat 86741

HI My 86741 washing machine has a fit and all the vertical lights to the right of the start/pause switch flash quickly as does the actual start/pause light. The time display also vanishes.
If I just lightly touch the start/pause switch this flashing etc stops.
This tends to suggest that the start/pause switch is faulty. Is it possible to buy a new switch or is it part of a bigger assembly?

I’ve sometimes found that dirt on the fascia or buttons can cause them to stick half in & not release & give the problem you describe. You would need to dismantle it & clean, power off on any appliance you are working on of course.

Has any error codes come up when you wer doing the washes lately?

No I don’t get any error messages. But if I just lightly touch the start/pause button the flashing stops but it is very temperamental.
When you say strip and clean, you mean unscrew the control unit from the back of the fascia and clean carefully?
