About 4 times in the last 6-8 weeks there has been an isolated occasion at some stage during a wash or dry programme when the pump has failed to start when required. The result is usually a flashing ‘Err’ message, tho’ I think I once had an ‘E20’ message.

Each time I have drained out whatever water might still be in the drum, removed the filter, found very little if any detritus in there, pushed the impeller round a couple of times by hand, and tried again. In effect, it seems that all it needs is a ‘prod’ and then it’s OK again …for a while.

Is this a symptom of any specific problem?

Looking at the AEG ‘exploded drawings’, it would appear that the pump motor is a separate unit from the actual pump. Without having to get inside the machine, is there any way to determine whether the failure is with the pump (impeller unit) or the motor please?

Thanks, that makes sense, I mis-understood the AG drawing then.

So, what’s the easiest/correct way to get at the pump for removal etc then please? I’m guessing that it can’t be done from the front 🙁

i would pull it out, tilt it back and climb underneath with a torch.
looks like the pump motor may clip on but there may be 1 screw or plastic clip to lock it.
not sure if it can be done without removing pump and filter unit
