    Hi all

I wonder if anyone could offer me assistance.

My machine firstly stopped completing a spin cycle, then started throwing an E20. So, I cleaned the filter and ensured there were no chincks on the outflow tube, tried again, and still got the E20. Unplugged it (hoping the controller would reset) then it started working again, then E20.

Now here’s my dilema. The machine is 3 1/2 yrs old and although it’s fully integrated, I’m using it as a freestanding. When I phoned the AEG service centre, they said they’d charge me £99 call-out + spares (they guessed the pump motor had gone which was £40). For £99 they would stay there until it was fixed (I.e. It was not a per hour fee).

So, we’re thinking that perhaps a better course of action would be to just replace the machine for a free-standing one (different make perhaps) rather than spend money to fix it on the basis that this machine is nearing the end of it’s life and something else is bound to go wrong with it in the near future. This was supported by comments on the internet (although we do realise they could be disgruntled owners).

What do you all think? Shall I repair, or shall I just admit to myself that this is the beginning of the end and get a new one. Is my thinking that it’s bound to go wrong again, soon, correct?

    Thanks in advance and regards

You could purchase the part and fit it yourself?
-not too difficult a job imho
AEG/electrolux/zanussi is of a good quality and you will need to spend
£400 plus for something decent which again may need brushes or a pump within 4 years….
pretty expensive at £100 a year if you keep replacing the machine on this basis

Perhaps get a competitive quote from one of the engineers on this forum
    (find an engineer link)?

If this is all that has gone wrong in the time you have had the machine then with some tlc it should last for some considerable time yet.
