Hi, I have an AEG lavamat turbo washing machine (L 14710-VIT) that will not wash? It will start the wash cycle (rotates the drum/fills with water/starts to rotate) and then it resets the display & timer and stops. This occurs after approx 2min and on all wash progs. Drain will not work at all. Spin alone works fine. Error code is E36 but not cant find what this indicates?

One point, the dryer is only occasionally used (once or twice /yr) and last wk when all was working fine I tried to use it and after 5mins it tripped the main house circuit breaker. I reset this and havent tried it since, but now this washing problem has occured!

    Main filter is clean.

Any help would be most appreciated..

    Thanks

Re: AEG lavamat turbo (L 14710-VIT) washer/dryer will not wa

    the two are related
earth fault on dryer elements cause this fault

disconnect the dryer element and try a wash

Hi, Can you tell me how to do this?

Also cant get the error code to appear anymore? I did it initially by holding the start/pause and start/delay buttons together after it had stopped. Doing this now has no effect. The fault is still the same ie. runs for 2/3mins on any wash prog and then stops and prog timer resets as if waiting to be started, but you cant re-start it without doing a reset first. Spin and drain still wk ok.

    Thanks

    turn power off
    take lid off
heater box is on top front to back
you will see element connection at rear
note where they all go and there is just enough room to take them off. make sure they cant touch anything and run machine to check
if you want to fix it you need a new dryer element but you dont have to fit one if you dont use it

Ok thanks, I’ll give that a go and let you know. As for checking for the error codes, am I doing it right and have you heard of this type of fault before where it just resets afer a couple of mins of a wash cycle?

    Thanks

Re: AEG lavamat turbo (L 14710-VIT) washer/dryer will not wa

Hi, Well disconnecting the heater seems to have sorted it and its running through the wash progs with no problems now. I’ve checked the heater resistance and it measures 103ohms between elements and a very Mohms resistance to earth, so there doesnt seem to be any obvious problem. Are there any other tests I can do with it?

Also is it easy to change and do you know where I could get a new one? Also any ides on cost?

    Thanks again for the help.
    Cheers

The pnc no. is 914601206/00, hope this helps..

So are there any further checks I can do on the heater unit, just worried it could be the controller board instead?

Also tried running the dryer with the heater unit disconnected and it runs fine (apart from no heat) – strange thought the controller would have detected the heater unit was missing!

Is the heater unit easy to change on this model?

    Thanks

    dryer heater part number 124 26 58-31/6

the heater has an earth fault that upsets the electronics the only test you could do is to megger the heater
This sort of fault is not uncommon if you only use the dryer occasionally. it is good practice to run the dryer about once a fortnight for 20 mins or so to keep damp out of the element. if you get damp in the element and turn it on all this damp trys to exit at once causing an earth fault

to remove element you have to split the machine case and the back comes away dont know how bad a job it is from there not done one

    just as another thought

this dryer element is 2 seperate elements. it is likely that only 1 element has failed you could connect them one at a time if you can get the element hot it might cure it

alternativly take out element and use a blowlamp or gas ring and get element hot ( or put in the oven for a few hours )

I had exactly the same problem and the fix of disconnecting the dryer element works great.

Thanks for saving me a pile of time and money.

    no problems

fault happens a lot in machine where the dryer is seldom used.
if you do replace element, or heat it up to dry it out, use the dryer for about an hour a month to keep it dry
