ParticipantHi,
I’m hoping someone on here can help me with this…
I have an AEG Lavamt Turbo Protex washer dryer. Its about 4 years old that is misbehaving.
Prod number is 914605605 00, model number is L75480WD
Initially I though it was just not heating during the drying cycle. I checked continuity and resistance on elements, thermostats and on the temp probe. As far as I can tell they all look OK, as do all the connections, as far as I can tell.
Now that I watched it, I realised that it is actually skipping the drying part. ie, If I set drying time to 35 (or whatever) mins, it will run for about 3 mins then jump to 11 mins remaining. It does this for any time set or drying program.
There are no errors.Has anyone seen something like this or would know how to begining finding the fault.
Is there a thermal fuse on these models and what is the factory reset sequence?
cheers and thanks
Kevin

Can you run the diagnostics routine.
With one finger switch the machine on and hold, then press the start/pause button and the next option button to the left, hold all three for about three seconds until the display starts scrolling through.
Turn the control knob one click at a time until you get an error message displayed. There are around fifty of them, all begin with E.
NB. You don’t mention checking the elements for insulation leaks to earth, a very common cause of strange faults on Zanussi washer dryers.

Hi,
Thanks for the quick response.
I tried to get into the diagnostics mode, however didn’t seem to work for me. I tried other combinations of button holding as well but nothing worked.
On my AEG, the button to the left of the start/Pause is the Delay start – is that the correct other button? To the left of the start/pause there’s 6 buttons running under the display.
Just checked between the elements and earth – looks like its completely open circuit.
cheers
Kevin

1. Switch on the appliance using the ON/OFF button. The first LED in the right hand row will light up.
2. Press the START/PAUSE button and the nearest option button simultaneously (as shown in the figure).
3. Hold the buttons/sensors down/pressed until the LEDs and symbols begin to flash in sequence (approximately 3 seconds).
then turn the knob to the 11th position to read last alarmDave

Thanks Dave.
I’m feeling a bit foolish now – despite following the instructions the machine isn’t entering any other mode. When I switch on, the start/pause LED flashes at the end of the row and the cotton LED is on round the knob. Closest button to the start/pause button is delay start. I’d tried pressing that with the other 2 but no joy.
What am I doing wrong?cheers

Brilliant thanks – I was holding down the power – works just holding down 2.
I see an E73 error – google tells me this:
Fault in NTC sensor on drying duct (voltage out of range = short-circuit, open circuit)
Drying NTC sensor (duct) faulty
Wiring faulty
Main circuit board faulty
Heating is skipped revert to StartThe wiring looks ok and the NTC was reading about 6k ohms when I checked it and did lower when I touched the radiator with it. I’m guessing “heating is skipped” but have no idea why.
Not sure where to go next with this, why would it skip the heating? Is there another test or a hard reset in diagnostic mode?

Anyone any thoughts on this and why it might skip the heating phase – I think elements are OK and not leaking to earth and that thermostats are OK.
Is it possible to factory default this model?

no did you measure the NTC from the main board to rule out wiring ?
Measure the NTC probe value between the J6-1 and J6-2 contacts of the WD connector board
also measure between each of these connections and earth and you should get no reading

thanks for the response, I’ll check it out when I get home from work.
I’m not actually sure where the other end of the NTC wiring is, but I’ll try to follow the wiring back.

there is a separate board for the dryer
NTC goes to this board not the main timer

Dave – thanks!
That was indeed the problem. One of the cables was broken at the point it is tied to the duct.
I’ve a temporay fix in place so will replace that cable. I believe I can get spares through this site?
Thanks a bunch for all your help, its been brilliant.
