Hi guys, visited one of these units today – have to admit I have never seen one before. The problem is that the drum only turns intermittently – you can hear the timer doing its stuff but the drum turns lets say randomly, when it feels like it – might run a few seconds might run for 10 minutes – thought it might be the cap but didnt have any spares on me – arrghh, now on order.

What you think – capacitor or maybe a relay on the timer misfiring.

The reverse tumble only lasts a few seconds in one direction then continues to tumble mainly in the other. So chances are there’s nothing wrong with your machine!

It’s a sensor dryer so you need to run test it with a couple of damp towels or some such otherwise it won’t operate correctly anyway.

Hi Martin – no its not the reverse motion thats the problem – I know they reverse – just seems to run in either direction when it feels like it. The timer is counting down as expected but the motor is just not turning. Have had the sides off and put a meter across the cap terminals and shows no voltage until the motor fires up.

From what you add then I can only assume the control module at fault in that the relays on the board are sticking maybe? Maybe you could try tapping the PCB during the period the motor is not energised to see if it bursts into life. Or remove and check the Rast connection blocks to the timer/module unit? 😕

Interestingly, the service manual is less than specific on this issue, the wiring diagram drawn up by some maniac professor from his prison cell by the looks of it. So no help there I’m afraid. 🙁
