AEG LAVSPIRIT, PNC 914 002 220 01 bearings

I am thinking of replacing the bearings on this but it seems damn difficult to get at them. I have seen various threads etc on other AEG washing machines but nothing seems quite similar.

Does anyone have any experience of this model, or similar, who could advise?

Standard ‘Lux case, tub out, split, new bearings in. Only difficult bit is getting the two top springs hung from the chassis afterwards. If you don’t have a second person to help you I use a car jack to push the tub up.

Thanks for the diagram and the quick reply.

I have the screw in the centre of the pulley out but can’t work out how to get the pulley off. Is it threaded on or just stuck with loctite? Can I just tap it with a hammer or heat it up to pull it straight off?

Also the plastic retainers holding the two shock absorbers at the bottom don’t look like the want to come off. Do I have to cut them off and replace them with new?

R.e. suspension legs leave them attached, remove the pins, not the legs themselves. You need to depress the tab at the “front” of the machine (e.g. facing away from you) then lever them out. I find long bent-nosed pliers work best for this – but they can be a pig and are cheap to replace if you need to.

Re the pulley screw. I have it out already. I just need to know if the pulley itself will pull straight off (with some heat and tapping with a hammer) or is it threaded on the spindle.

For the suspension legs. When you say “leave them attached”, do you mean attached to the casing, or attached to the drum?

Bumping this since I have the machine in pieces (easier to get at some of the screws) but still scared to use force on the pulley on the drum.

Can I just heat it and whack it? It’s not clear from the diagram if there are any threads or lugs I need to be aware of…

Turn the drum slowly and tap around the edge of the pulley with a hammer to release it.

I almost gave up on this… but now I am in the zone and determined to fix the b*gg*r. I now have the bearings out, or what was left of them. They had completely disintegrated, along with the drum seal. I have ordered a bearing kit. It should be obvious where the bearings go but since the old seal was in pieces I am not sure about the orientation when fitting the new one. What is the correct way round to fit it?
