    Aeg LW1259 pnc 91400245700

Bearings gone after two and a half years.

Apparently the bearings and seal are the same as used on the split case, split drum Zanussi’s.

Has anyone replaced the bearings on this AEG machine?
Is it similar to the Zanussi job, ie outer drum out and split the drum.

Reason I ask is, went to job yesterday to confirm bearings gone. And was unable to remove the machine from under the worktop, because the utility room floor has that very soft vinyl floor covering, which only goes half way under machine. And of course when you go to pull the machine out, the back feet pulls the vinyl forward in a lump. No room above machine worktop, tightly squeezed in, so can’t get anything under back feet.

Anyway explained to customer that I wasn’t prepared to damage the new floor covering, they said they would get machine out themselves. 🙂

The problem is have never worked on one of these before, and couldn’t get machine out to take a look at how to change the bearings.

Any info would be appreciated Please.

according to parts diagramme this is a split tub type, like the zanussi. but the cabinet is not. the front panel strips off to bring the tub out through the front..

Thanks very much Tell for your help. I have an older edition of the CD and this machine is not on the CD, suppose I will have to get round to getting an up to date one. 🙁

    Thanks again

Easy way to deal with these difficulties is to carry a sheet of Formica Laminate in the van. Buy a sheet and cut it to a size of around 600mm by 1000mm.*

Slide the sheet under the front feet and as far back as possible towards the rear feet. Wet the front edges of the laminate slightly before pulling the machine out a few inches. Stop, try raising the back end of the machine slightly and continue pulling out, ensuring the laminate stays in position without moving with the machine.

That way will likely get the rear feet on top of the laminate and you can then slide the machine right out.

*If you cut a piece from a sheet of laminate that is slightly wider than the width of your van roof space (inside of course) Then you can store the laminate sheet neatly and out of the way in the roof space held between the internal reinforcement ridges – No extra charge for that tip by the way 😆

I use a sheet of plastic sold in garden centres for filling bin bags. It’s rolled up and in theory you roll it up inside out, put it inside a bin bag and it opens up and holds the bag open whilst you put your hedge trimmings etc in the bag. It’s crap for that!, but it’s great for use as a floor protector… 😛
