    Hi,

I have a problem with my Microwave/oven and I would be very grateful if someone could help me out.

We using any of the cooking functions, the light turns off after exactly 59 seconds. Both the preheat and Microwave/oven fucntion does this.

I have checked within this forum and some people seem to have a similar problem but their ovens turn of after a longer period.

Do I also have a problem with the internal cooling fan? Could someone recommend the part to fix this problem?

    Thanks
    Jonny

Hi: Sorry but we don’t give people advice on how to repair Microwave ovens. There are no user serviceable items in a Microwave oven.
Microwaves hold a high voltage & high current charge even once switched off & basically can kill the unwary, repair should be left to suitably skilled Engineers with the specialised equipment required to work on Microwaves safely.

For an Engineer local to you please try the repairs@ link.

If u look inside while its running ( within them few seconds it does ) the turntable may possibly not be turning.

If it says inverter on bottom left of the door… bin it as the parts will be over 100 quid.
Even if u were a rich man.. nobody will supply a non trade with the parts to replace this is the reason i havnt told u what parts it would need only a rough price.

If it isnt inverter system take it to a local shop ( if the turntable isnt revolving ) and they should be able to fix it for i guess £30 to £40.

if it is not inverter system and turntable is turning its a switch possibly but im not at liberty to tell u which one.

Sorry but this is for your benefit and my peace of mind.
also it could be another 2 things…which is very highly dangerous if u dunno what ya doing.

And u could probably scrub a few of them scenarios… just noticed its a oven also and giving u the fault on that side too.
Best thing for your own safety is to take it to a local repair centre.
    were r u based?

Re: AEG Micromat Combi – Model MCC4060E

    Thanks for the info guys.

The turntable does move and I have no Electrical or Engineering background what so ever, so I wouldnt like to mess with anything.

Im based in Mirfield, near Leeds in West Yorkshire.

The Appliance is pretty big and is a bulit-in unit, so it maybe difficult taking it to a repair centre.

Am I right in thinking I should just get a new one?

Depends how much it would cost to replace… a lot of times these can be fixed at quite a cheap cost.
I would get some help to remove it from its cavity and get it down the repair centre.

Re: AEG Micromat Combi – Model MCC4060E

The spares for aeg int m/w are horrendous (due to the aeg mark up, as aeg act like a middle man on the parts) so it may be worth getting a very decent specialist repairer to take on the task who has access to the core components direct rather than a general repair engineer who might be a bit cheaper on the labour but can only get the aeg-packaged parts.

Just remember a repair will still often work out viable compared to the price of a new integrated like-for-like brand. But as with all electronics its very difficult to assess the level of wear thats been put through them – you can get new daewoos with built-in kits for about the £175+fitting mark which works out faily reasonable compared to a aeg price, but as with all built in equipment youd need to make sure you get the right dimensioned product, but yeah as most microwaves tend to have the same main generic core components, a lot does just depend on badge snobbery really.

I have seen this problem before & it is usually a switch, as others have advised a microwave oven is a dangerous item to work on for the untrained.
we have a shop in York and repair microwaves of all makes & have repaired AEG appliances for over 40 years.
if you wanted to bring the microwave to us for repair or need to ask any further questions feel free to reply on this forum or send me an email
