1st of all many thanks to Martin for providing me with the solution to my earlier problem with the machine

The problem now is that it makes one heck of a noise – used to be really quiet

Any ideas?

Gets louder on spin? Almost certainly drum bearings. Open the door, put hand up at 12 o’clock and try to lift. If there is any movement of the lip of the drum in relation to the inner edge of the door seal, the bearings are on their way out. Often, if you turn the drum by hand, you can feel a slight roughness.

If the above is true, this is at least an hour and a half’s work for a professional as it involves (quite literally!) the demolition of the machine to its component parts.

I would seriously consider professional help……. Click the link below to see if there is a UKW engineer in your area.

Power off if you are going to investigate further.
