Hi,
I’ve broken the knob on my washing machine, it’s the one for the wash/spin programme. The whole front of the knob broke off as I was trying to lever it off in the process of fixing another problem. It’s an AEG OKO Lavamat. I’ve called AEG and they’ve quoted almost £18 for a replacement(inc P&P). Is there a cheaper way of fixing it? are there any pattern parts suppliers?
Many of the earlier series of AEG’s have two knobs (Timer Knob/Thermostat Knob), both of which are identical, so you can switch them over if that will solve the problem?
Just a thought, however as Dave suggests, do give us the full model number AND the Product number as well (usually 9 digits long)
Sadly, the knobs are not interchangeable on my model. I did discover the secret of getting them off, you prise the thin top cover off and there’s a little lever which you just prise towards the outer rim of the knob and it slides off easily! The metal spindle has a notch and the levered bit has a spur which fits into the notch.
I’m going to try and repair it with glassfibre and araldite and see if it holds.
Thanks for your help so far.
