Hi just replaced a loose element in my fan oven and when I turned the temperature dial on it made a popping noise and the trip went in my fuse box. So I put my old element back in thinking that the new one is faulty but when I select any function like fan oven, grill etc they heat up automatically and the warning light on the thermostat is on all the time this is without turning the temperature dial. Would the element tripping the electric and making a blowing noise in the oven damaged the thermostat switch.

provided the wiring in the cooked has not changed or been altered by mistake i think the following

from what you are saying it sounds like you have blown a fuse and now the thermostat contacts are welded together

you need a new stat
