AEG SN71840 4i integrated fridge freezer not cooling

Hi,

I’ve just moved into a house which was empty for a while. There was another fridge in there before we moved in so I suspect this one was kaput before. Anyhow, the lights and fans are working after a while I can hear a click and different sound which I assume is the compressor starting. After a while it goes off as normal. The fridge is slightly cooler than room temp but the freezer is warm.

The green light is on and the yellow light is on. If I press the button which is normal/super the green and yellow lights flash alternatively.

Anyone got an idea where to look?

Hi Jon,

I’d need to look it up to be more certain but it does sound like a classic compressor failure, possibly the relay on the compressor shorting out but that’s the best case.

Thanks for the quick reply. A compressor is going to be £200+ so since we spent up on the house move I think it’s out. Is the relay easy to test or swap?

I ran it for about a day thinking it was fine, it makes all the right noises. I can’t find out why the lights flash alternatively. The yellow and green lights stay on when the button is pressed
