    Hello,

I’ve got an AEG Tumble dryer, T56800 PNC 91601202400 that isn’t drying the clothes properly. Being an electro mechanical engineer I’ve had a look myself and done the following:

    – Made sure all of the ducting is clear of fluff.

    – Made sure the filters in the door and down to the condenser are clean.

    – Washed the condenser unit.

    – I have replaced the heater element with a genuine AEG part from their online store.

    – Run the machine for a few minutes, then opened the door, wedged a screwdriver in the door closed sensor and opened the condenser door, a very strong warm flow of air is felt out of the condenser door suggesting to me that the heater is working so too are the fans.

    – After running an empty drum for 30 minutes I opened the door and measured the temperature in the drum using an infra red thermometer, 68 degrees C.

    – When clothes are put into the machines after washing, they come out warm and slightly drier. The machine seems to have an sensor to determine how long to dry the clothes before switching to the cooling stage, this is about 15 minutes, not as long as it used to be – I think.

    – When I run the machine with no clothes in on the ‘storage dry’ settings, after about the same amount of time it turned to cooling. I was trying to run it for the 2 hours as per the fault finding webpage I found, never got further than 30 minutes before it had turned itself off.

    – When attempting to dry clothes no fluff is on the filters anymore nor is there any water in the container at the top nor on or below the condenser.

To me it seems as though the machine is turning off too soon, it isn’t on long enough to dry the clothes to a dryness where they can release any fluff hence why the filters are clean. If it was on for longer we may see water in the container. Looking on the web the only explanations for damp clothes is blocked up pipework/ducting and or broken element, we don’t have either.

Are there sensors on this machine to measure moisture level? If so where would I find them and how would I test them?

    Thanks in advance.

    Chris
