Can anyone help with a motor problem on this high end dryer that is stumping me. The motor is struggling to get the drum moving, but the drum is not stiff. Fault codes E51 and E54 are coming up.

This model has two motor capacitors, the main one at 6 uF and a “B-class” capacitor rated at 2 uF, switched in by the pcb. Both spot on the correct readings.

The Electrolux diagnostic guide suggests E51 and E54 are caused by low voltage, a faulty motor, faulty wiring or faulty pcb. I’ve fitted a new motor/capacitor kit, with new capacitor values of 5 uF and 4 uF. Now the drum doesn’t move at all, but the same fault codes come up on the test function.

Given that the wiring is in perfect condition, I assume the pcb must be at fault, but it’s quite expensive and only fits this model. Has anyone else come across this fault with this motor and twin capacitors and been able to solve it?

I vaguely remember coming across a similar thing…it turned out to be faulty wiring at one of the connector blocks which only became apparent with a ‘wiggle’ test.

For the life of me i can’t remember which connector is was but i’ve a feeling it was at the top…but don’t quote me on that 😆
