Hi I have an AEG condensing dryer with heat pump technology that I purchased at the beginning of the year. Recently the dry has been making our cloths smell like wet dog(we don’t have a dog)

Does anyone know what this might be? Now I did have a theory that it could be bacteria similar to what happens in washing machines due to low temperature washes. As its has heat pump technology the dryer does not get as hot as a normal dryer would so this could mean bacteria does not get killed off.

Has anyone else had this problem and what do you recommend?

You never mentioned to us whether or not you have regularly cleaned the capacitor filters behind the service door. Likely as not bacteria will form in that area unless you do so.

Hi Yes we clean the fluff filter after each use and vacuum the condenser behind the service door. There doesn’t appear to be a way of cleaning the condenser like there was on our old Beko condensing drier.

    Hi Martin,

Yes the filters are cleans on a regular basis and the fluff is cleaned up with the vac. It’s strange the first load in the dryer is fine, all subsequent loads smell musty.
