ParticipantAEG washer dryer
L75670NWD
914604805/00Customer complaint: unable to initiate program, door lock making clicking noises.
Upon visit, everything worked fine until I was about to leave (having tried quick wash and subsequently drying functions).
Door lock is acting very strange.
Sometimes it works first time, other times it clicks and refuses to initiate program. Other times the door won’t open despite the lock key symbol not being lit.
Usually, I would just order and try a new door lock.
However, (very elderly) customer says another engineer had visited recently and replaced the door lock – although she couldn’t find/didn’t have a receipt/invoice.
Anything I need to be aware of? Presumably the module can also cause such faults?
No error codes are shown, aside an E40 when I purposely attempted starting tye program with the door obviously open.
Thanks for any advice/help.

Moderatorwell since the lock starts the programme by joining the switch contacts you should be able to meter this out. a high resistance will be the coil but 2 of the wires should be short circuit when the lock is in the locked position
look like it goes to connector J3

ParticipantThere could be problems also with leakage to earth from heater other with worn wiring conector on doorlock side or missalign of door hook inside door frame.

ParticipantI re-visited the machine today after the customer complained that a program ended and she couldn’t open the door afterwards.
When I arrived, I powered the machine on and the door opened first time. Typical!
Ran it through a drying program and then a quick wash to heat the elements in case it was an earth leakage fault. Door locked and unlocked perfectly.
Removed the door interlock and nothing was wrong there. Tested both elements for Earth leakage shortly after they were hot, again no issue.
The door is sagging very slightly, so mis-aligned in the interlock is possible. But, I must have locked and unlocked the door thirty times today and it worked perfectly.
Not sure what more I can do – there’s only so much time I can spend on one machine when the fault never occurs.
It’s seven years old and starting to get a bit rumbly on spin.
Had to advise her to replace it. Not really happy about it, but moved on.
Thanks for the help anyway.
