AEG Washer Dryer – fan not working

Hi,

Haven’t seen many AEG washer dryers so would really appreciate your experience 🙂

Got one for testing in my workshop for a customer, product number 914602122/01. Everything works except fan motor for dryer doesn’t turn, including with belt off. Have swapped the motor with a known working one from same model, still nothing. 2 connectors, both tested – both have 240V. Is this probably the fault – I assume one should be grounded 0V? Any idea what could cause this? Checked connectors to PCB and they look fine, maybe short on PCB circuit or problem with relay?

Supply to the fan comes directly from the power module (J17 terminals 5 & 6 according to the wiring diagram)

Had a look, can’t see any obvious faults with wiring or connectors so it’s off to EMW I think :).

There is a sequence to the way these operate. The condensor water valve opens first and when the pressure switch senses the water level it will bring on the pump and switch the supply to the dryer element. When the temperature sensor detects the element working then it will switch the fan on.
So check the condensor valve and dryer elements are working before you start to think about a board fault. 😉

Ah, thanks. You can hear the element relay click, and then both connectors go from 0V to 240V… so it seems to be working okay. But as I have a spare machine will try a bit of switching around.

To be honest whenever a customer says it’s washer dryer it’s always bad news – pain to work on and troubleshoot. Still… I suppose the fact they’re so bloody unreliable is something to be thankful for :wink:.
