Machine threw off the drum drive belt. Unfortunately my son called a service company who took the machine away and diagnosed main motor and control board needed replacement. I have subsequentley checked the motor, brushes, windings, armature and insulation resistance and found them to be OK. As to the circuit board, nothing obvious but as I am working without any technical literature (have voted in this regard) I assumed that the triac was the output for the motor drive and replaced that. Current situation is all programs are selectable, indicators all operate but no response to the start button.
Could you please tell me if there is a reset for this machine ? Also there is a multi pin socket in the control loom which has no home, is this a diagnostic connection. Any other comments would be most welcome.
Many thanks John M. (I Eng. MITE).

Did you check the tacho magnet and coil at the back end of the motor? A loose magnet can cause rapid spin when on wash and that could throw the belt off. Check whether the door is locking as a door interlock fault could cause the symptoms you describe.

Thanks for that. Have checked the Tacho..seems OK and the door is locking. Still wondering about this reset busines which seems to feature in forum topics quite frequentley. John.

Not a reset but the board has to be configured for use with a 16 digit hexadecimal code specific to that machine. Some are configurable in the field but not all can be.

Do you have the product number beginning 914?

    Hi.

Yes, this can be programmed manually but as I know of even trained engineers cocking it up I would not want to put you in a position where you make the situation worse, even if you believe that is not possible & are confident in your ability.

My best advice to you would be that as you are not certain that the board is even at fault, that you contact a local qualified recommended tech, possibly your local Serviceforce, who will be able to assist.

Hi Spin Doctor. Thanks for the advice. The local service people have had their try and suggested changing the motor, the board and anything else that MIGHT be faulty.
I am an electrical engineer, have tested the motor OK, can’t do much with the board and am on the verge of dumping the machine as it is not a cost viable repair using your suggested route. There is nothing to loose.
