ParticipantThe machine goes through the full cycle but at the end of the cycle the machine is still full of soapy water. The first time this happened I managed to pump out the water and spin but this time two days later the pump will not work and had to empty the machine manually. Spin is okay. Am I looking at a new pump? Or could it be something else.

It could be a few things but the most obvious things i can think of, are whether the filter needs cleaning, or whether the pump impellor is blocked before replacing the pump. Power off before investigating.

Thank you for that. It is a Lavamat 600. I have taken emptied the water from the bottom and the impellor does not seem to be blocked – still goes round but cannot find the filter. Where would the filter be and what does it look like. Very grateful for any advice.

This might be one of the old Aeg machines. The filter should be a dial that you screw out, and a mesh holds all the fluff and coins and all that stuff. Usually they can be found behind a panel on the body of the machine, but failing that, it could be hidden behind the kickstrip. But Aeg machines have always had a filter so you should be able to find one.

thank you again. Still cannot find a filter. Did find the dial that screws out to let the water out but no filter only the impellor – i think it is called. the kick strip does not seem to come off.

actually Ajuga, look here: http://www.serviceforce.co.uk/pdfs/U02495.pdf
and scroll down to page 29, this sounds like the problem you might be having.June 17, 2007 at 9:06 am #217321Penguin45

You have found the filter – it is the cover in front of the impellor. Check that the impellor turns freely. If it does, select spin and observe whether or not the impellor runs on it’s own. If it does not, the pump motor will have failed and will need to be replaced. If it does, you have a blockage somewhere. Sock in sump hose/pump inlet; coin in pump outlet; crushed drain hose and blocked sink spigot connection if used) are all fairly common.
Power off for anything other than observation.

Failing that, it could be another number of problems, but slightly more serious. It could be the timer, which is not deciding to pump out the water, or it may be that the pump is knackered. Take a look here to see if your pump looks like any of these http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/index.ph … 24_593_631

Impellor turns but not when I put the machine on spin. I am still confused re the filter – if it is cover in front of the impellor there is nothing to empty. No mesh or anything like that.

If it the impellor doesnt spin, when the machine is on, it maybe time for a new pump.

thank you both for your time and advice. so it will need a new pump. It is 10 years old and this is the first time I have had a problem. As I use it every day I don’t think that is bad going.

If you’d care to put up the pnc number from the rating plate, I should be able to identify the pump for you.

Sorry to hijack but i came across this thread in google when searching for help.
I have just aquired a lavamat 600 for my sister but there are no markings to identify which is the hot and cold water feed. Being an old machine it’s hard to find info for it so would the OP be kind enough to check their machine and see which way the hoses go. Thanks.

Take the lid off. There will be a three way valve and a one way valve. The three way is cold, the one way is hot.
