ITS A SCRIBER I HAVE ALL READY CHANGED THE FAN. STILL NOT WORKING, COULD IT BE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE MAGNETIC REED SWICHES AND IF SO HOW DO YOU TEST THEM

Well according to Merloni there is a reed switch available under part number 546037700 but MFI list it as a thermal fuse, located in the right hand side of the freezer compartment behind a cover. To confuse the issue there is a magnet available in the top of the door to activate the door light and (perhaps) the module to feel power to the fan. Let me have a look at the service instructions and if you have an email I’ll push it up the tube.

I have the tech sheet which I will forward to you but the basic points are – the fan switches off when the door is opened. The first time the appliance is connected to the electric it goes into defrost – the fan will not come on until the defrost is finished (usually 25 minutes) and both the compressor and fan can be off for a further 7 minutes ie total 32mins. So if you have just switched it off/unplugged it you can have this delay before it starts up again.

Participantif the light works intermittingly then its down to the reed switch for the fridge door.
Check to make sure that the magnet support is screwed down tightly then check the dispaly pcb as this is were the reed switch for the door is housed.
