    Hi there, I’m trying to establish the age of my grandmother’s fridge. It’s a Thorn Pilot. Thorn seem to have gone defunct in 1998. We think the fridge is from some point between 1973 and 1983. Details as follows. Many thanks for any assistance you can provide.

    The only date range I can find is circ a 1999 but that is a revised date so it could be older!!

    Thanks Don. I’ve got a photo of the identification tag on the back of the fridge but I can’t upload it. Would it be possible to e-mail it to someone?

    well for start off R12 was banned in 1994 so its older than that (ozone depletion)

    Thanks Dave. It’s (almost) definitely between 1973 and 1983, I’m just seeing if I can narrow it down any more.
