ParticipantYes, I know there’s a meeting thread in the UKW forum, but I thought it fair to throw this open to subscribers first 😉
Meeting dates Friday 25th and Saturday 26th Feb (Not long ! 😯 )
Has anyone got anyone in mind they would like to invite to the Friday meeting ? By way of insurers, WP’s etc ?
Please remember, Friday is for all, Saturday is Independants only.
Already invited (or will be in the next few minutes) are :
Domestic and General
CDSL
Independant Service
MFI
Merloni (yes, it’s true )
CDA
Expert Appliance Care
NESNI thought about a spares supplier as well perhaps, apart from CDSL that is ?
Also, are there any particular agenda items for either day anyone would like added ?
Just pop any requests up here or PM me with them 😀
Cheers.
Dave.

Steve Clarke if possible, he lives in the area.
If you fancy spares suppliers, Paul Jones from Distriparts as well as a representative from Data in Yeovil.

Spares suppliers are part of the furniture now, pin stripped suits and filofaxes all plying for our business. They are not our problem, so there is little we can learn from them.
Fill the meeting with the likes of Brian Cresswell and others like him in a similar position 😈
Spares! I’ve got spares!…Give us TECHNICAL INFO instead ❗

I do appreciate what you’re saying here Martin but the way that things are now the spares guys often have many more strings to their bows these days and have more of a bearing to we lowly mortals that do contract work. 😉
Other than that there’s already been a surprisingly high level of interest in this meeting. 🙂

Alex, someone from Lux is confirmed as attending, not Steve Clarke though as he can’t make it so he’s asked someone to attend on his behalf.
Also now confirmed are CDSL and NESN.

Meeting number 4 will be different to the last 3 at least if I have anything to do with it that is. To justify MY request that the Saturday meeting be restricted to ‘Repairers Only’ do come!

KeymasterMartin we was robbed at the last one on that count and I was totally unaware of the uninvited guests till I saw them sat there. It seemed a bit harsh to simply eject them.
It won’t happen again and it’s already been said that the Saturday is repairers only.

ParticipantRe: Agenda Items and Invitees
The point I was trying to make in my last post was that if I get a chance this time, it will be different. Many of the ‘repairers’ cannot afford time off for a 2 day meet (me included actually 🙁 ) So setting the agenda specifically for these guys on Saturday will hopefully encourage others to make the trip.
Now, it is important we do not discuss items that concern repairers on the Friday meet (I will be on hand to point this out to the ‘chair’ if I feel it should be deferred ’til Saturday 😉 )
So, I personally have a number of issues I would like to discuss on the Saturday out of earshot of others. Therefore what I hope to achieve by this is for likeminded individuals to come forward and give us their thoughts on such a ‘intimate’ Saturday meeting.
Bear in mind we have less than 2 months to get an agenda sorted to pack the house out. …. oh and I would like to see John Fitz there too!

Whilst I take the point Martin the reason for the format is that it accomplishes a few things…
1. It gives us time with others from within and related to our businesses
2. It allows us the night to chat and socialise a bit.
3. It gives us the chance for a closed meeting (albeit that didn’t happen last time)
4. There would simply not be the time to cram it all into one day.
The reason for a Friday and why that is the others outside of our good selves is that many of these people are actually working, asking them to take their own persoanl time out on a Saturday is asking a bit much IMO. So, that’s why that is, but that in no way diminishes the importance of that side of it.
Saturday is always more liable to be a brainstorming session and one that may well be best left left with a certain flexability as I’m in no doubt that some of Friday’s topics will be revisited there.
As for John, I’ve not heard from him since the DASA AGM but I think I’ve his mobile number somewhere, but if anyone would like to bring him up to speed please?
K.
