ParticipantHi all,
Sorry, I’ve not got the model number to hand, I’ll try and grab it tonight. The printed sticker has rubbed off but I understand the model and serial should also be etched into the door?
Anyway, I have a Siemens dishwasher that is about 10 years old and is regularly giving an E15.
The E15 looks to be a common error with Siemens/Bosch dishwashers of this era, something to do with water getting into the base due to the plastic sides flexing in heat?
This fits the behaviour we’re seeing actually, in that if we do a short wash, it finishes fine. It’s only if we do a longer or hotter wash that it always seems to throw the error.
When the E15 error occurs, we just turn it off at the wall, tip it back (a bit of water dibbles out the base) and it’s then fine again (so long as we stick to short washes). Although I understand the E15 can relate to the drainage pipe and filter at the end, these all seem clear for us.
My question is really, with this sort of error in a 10 year old Siemens, is it worth me opening it up and having a look to see an obvious leak or bad seal in the base? Or is it unlikely to be economically repairable?
Thanks,
Andy

ParticipantAhah it’s a SN26M890GB apparently (acording to my post history here)! 🙂
Thanks,

ParticipantThanks Dave,
Ahh wow ok, I just presumed it was a clever third party solution.
I’m pretty sure it was actually leaking from there, the rest of the parts in the base were fairly dry.
It could be condensation I guess, but for less than £15 I’m happy to take a punt on that kit if it might do the job (and supports UK Whitegoods too). 🙂

ParticipantWe’ve got the same error code with our Bosch dishwasher thats 5.5 years old……. E15 just keeps re-appearing & isn’t going away! We’ve had to switch it off at the mains because but the pump kept whirling away, despite turning the dishwasher off on the door front.
Got Bosch coming out tomorrow to fix it. Hope its repairable……..

ParticipantHow did you get on with your engineer?
My kit turned up in the post today so I’ll be giving the repair a go tonight.

ParticipantThe Bosch man identified the problem – the sump is leaking. He’s had to order the part & will fit it next week.
£29 for a new sump + the standard Bosch call-out fee of £99.February 11, 2019 at 9:25 am #460150APT
ParticipantIn the end we decided to call it a day. 9 years seemed like a good innings for ours so in the end we replaced the unit with a Beko (DFN28R22W I think). They seem to have a good reputation on here as being value for money and quite repairable, so fingers crossed. It certainly seems to perform well, its 30min wash does better than our old Siemens quick wash.
