ParticipantHave an interesting request from an elderly priest having sorted out his frozen washing machine at the vicarage today.
The Aiwa VX G143 TV/VHS has been passed down to him from another priest who has passed away with his name and 4 digit code put in the unit? God has not come forward with the missing four digit code to put in the unit to get it to work?Has anybody got an idea how to bypass the code and get the TV working again as Aiwa no longer are in business and cannot find anything on the internet to make his day.
Somebody thought there was a 6666 type of number to clear it down? Thanks in advance for any help

I think someone is taking the Michael with that number, 666 is the number of the devil you know. 😉
I will post your question on a couple of other forums I frequent, you never know. 🙂
I would guess that there may be a tiny battery onboard somewhere to keep the memory chip active. Removing that for a while might cause it to lose the preset code, but that is just a very wild guess. 🙂Jim.

My friends a Cableforum.co.uk have suggested a couple of possible things to try, not specific to this model but you never know.
To reset the pin code
Enter wrong no 3 x, then press Vol- on set & “7” on R/C for 5 secs when “protected” appears.
Another similar procedure for another model:
Unplug set for 1 hour plus. reduce volume to minimum. simultaneously press Volume down on unit and “7” on remote for five seconds to reset pin code and customer ID.
I also now have all four revisions of the service manuals, need to unzip them first though.
Jim.

Yes threw out the 6666 number, service tech with a sense of humour.
Sorted out the problem by phoning an old mate from the broadcast industry who had come across this one.Turn the TV on then press the VOLUME down button whilst pressing the 7 button on the remote control.
This cleared the name and pin number, one very happy priest and useful to know just in case. Thanks jim for the help, spot on for Aiwa.
