Public forum member ‘supermaticjames’ is a young Irish lad who I am in regular contact with. His hobby is renovating old washing machines. He has been after one of these for years.
Hotpoint 1600, 44 years old and spinning at1100rpm all those years ago. 8) Drain pump is a little noisy but virtually everything else is original. With my help and advice he has had to remove the drum to replace the perished triangular rubber washers on the drum mounting bolts and it has a leak in the large one piece hose. He does however have access to a good one of those.Re: All our yesterdays.

Oh God this old trip back into nostalgia and delirium. 🙁
Yeah two bob piece, 10p, 2p whatever fitted to giggle that ruddy indicator cam, string, spring and red dial back to the beginning. The hours we field trainers spent trying to test those flipping modules. Plugging them into a antiquated test block with link wires plugged in all over the shop. Backplates that cracked because those bolts weren’t locktited in properly.
I built a complete brand spanking1600 for my own personal use by ordering spares from Lutterworth. The joy I felt when the lid and cabinet was delivered to the Reading Depot I recall to this day. 4 yrs trouble free service that thing gave, remarkable!
Best looking washing machine EVER I reckon (only reason it sold, truth be known 😉 )
