Sounds like another compressor fault get you friend to listen for the BuZZ on start up then clicks of.Poss the control board(jazz board)comp starts with fridge door open then cuts out when door is closed.Remove the bottom plinth about half way along the base of the machine theres a plastic bag in which all the test instructions are hidden. Most likely to be the compressor though cutting in and out.

Thanks went back yesterday and it had stopped then was back working again, i had asked him if he had heard any buzzing like sounds followed by a click, he hadnt but is his wife was there this time she had, so i’m going to have a pop at fitting a new starter for the compressor, the other thing i thought it might be was the condensor fan faulty causing it to overheat and the compressor to trip out

Went back today and was advised it stopped freezing altogether i plugged it in and the comprressor and condensor fan come on for about 5 secs then goes off i tried another starter it did the same, i tested the compressor windigs i think they are okay ie approx 13ohms, 27ohms and 40 ohms across both windigs, not sure if it is the pcb or a siezed compressor, anybody got any ideas what to try next. if it were a faulty compressor or starter, the condenser fan would still run. I do have a wiring diagram if that helps?

I had a similar fault on an amana at the beginning of December ,this was cutting out and defrosting every few days and then starting up again .At the time of my visit the fr/frz was running ok so i changed the board and this cured the fault no further fault reported ,hope this helps Cras

Cheers Cras, thats the thing doing a repair for a friend you try and keep the the price down as they think you owe them a favour, not the other way round.

hi johnny, the condenser fan should run with the compressor. if they’re both not working or working erratically then the pcb is your problem.

The instructions advised to use the code on the rating plate which was 28, will 05 allow it to be programed, JJ
