A local supplier has a fully clad stainless steel 22cuft American style fridge freezer. Its internal label says its model GC2224GEKB but being sold as an Amana.

I can’t find and reference to an Amana GC2224GEKB, only an Admiral GC2224GEKB. Even the Admiral seems to be a black model with no stainless steel variation available. There isn’t a manufacturer decal on the front of the machine and I can’t see any other way of identifying it.

Can anyone tell me if this is a regular model, an Admiral machine that was mistakingly fully steel clad and then sold as an Amana or some other possibility. Its priced at 1600 Euro, about the same as a steel doored Bosch or Siemens.

    Good deal or bad?

Thanks gegsy, I know they’re all part of the same group which is why I’m a little curious about the model/name confusion. The supplier, here in Ireland, has had 20 of these machines for a few months so they are discounted by about 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}, were 2800 euro, now 1600 euro (about 1150 pounds). Neither Admiral, Amana, Maytag or Jennair would be well known names here so they probably found them hard to shift compared to Bosch or Whirlpool etc.

That said I’m still a bit perplexed by the model/name issue but will likely get over it and buy one in preference to a Bosch/Siemens/Whirlpool. Its even cheaper than any of their fully clad versions and from what I understand a better buy.
