ParticipantHi there
I am in Australia and have been unlucky enough to have aquired one of these Fridges with a similar problem to that described previously.
The exact details are :
Every 30 minutes or so, a relay at the rear of the fridge starts clicking for about 30 seconds. This happens only when the Ice Maker is switched on.
When the Compresor fan is running AND the Ice maker is on, the water dispenser “pulses” instead of delivering water smoothly and continously.
After trying the Capacitor changes mentioned earlier, I still have these problems. I have tried to speak with Whirlpool here but they will not help me They just push me onto a service agent who wants to charge an arm and a leg for what should be a warranty job in my opinion. As a qualified technician I find it very frustrating that I can not get any assistance from the manufacturer about this problem which appears to be a design fault.
I am interested in anyone else out there who has similar problems or who may be able to assist with identifying the problem. I suspect that it has to do with the power supply on the Rear PCB. Any Ideas out there ?July 19, 2006 at 8:26 am #182411Penguin45

Make & Model is Whirlpool S26W3DF but as I understand it, the electronics used is the same as the S25 and S20 series sold in your area.
Date of manufacture is 11/2004
It has the same PCB layout as described by other members.
4 x White MKP Capacitors, 3 Black Relays, 1 Red etc.July 22, 2006 at 6:26 pm #182413Penguin45

The front and rear boards are not all the same (only by looks re rear boards) nor interchangeable. Could be a fuffy this one, sorry.

Thanks for your reply
Maybe its because I am Australian and dont understand your language
What is a “fuffy” please?
Also, on a different note, it is interesting that I apear to have exactly the same symptoms as several people described in a previous Whirlpool Thread in this forum. This would indicate that the electronics must be similar if they exhibit the same faults ?July 25, 2006 at 7:13 am #182416Dave_Conway

If you can find the service number starting 85???? from inside the fridge (normally) that may help ozzy1.
