American style fridge freezer

I have a Whirlpool american style fridge freezer Model no S20BRSB21-A/G it has a problem that in the fridge compartment on the top shelves it seems to freeze everything, when you use the drinks dispenser it has started flashing, does anyone know what the problem can be look foward to hearing your views.

The freezing could be down to the likes of this part which, if it fails and is open, will allow too much cold air to be drawn from the freezer into the fridge. But I’d need the 12NC number from the rating plate to look much beyond that as a guess at the correct baffle.

The flashing could be a fault on the board or pretty much anything else, is there any pattern to the flashing?

Thanks kwatt, are one of these numbers what you need 858615115001 / 110522021077 . The flashing starts when dispensing ice or water and carries on for a few seconds after dispensing has stopped.hope this helps

Yup, it’s that air diffuser or baffle that’s fitted to that machine and I’d expect that was what was causing the overfreezing.

Whether that’s the cause of the lamp flashing I don’t know.

Took the air baffle out today it was frozen solid dried it with a hairdryer wired it up and it closed so put it back in place so hope it will keep working ? But the lights are still flashing. Do you have any idea how old the fridge may be as i bought it second hand ? Thanks

No idea how old it is but, a guess would be week 11 2005.

Lamp flashing, still no clue unless it needs a new water filter. Or the board has the usual issues but you’d have to read through the huge sprawling thread that you made the other post on to get answers to that one. 😉

The fridge has started to freeze up again. why does it work for 2 days then stop working ? .
Is there any thing else i can try to make this part start working again or do i have to buy a new part

My first suggestion would be to make sure that the air baffle is the part you need!

Although, I’d be fairly confident that was the problem.

But no, if it’s freezing up that quickly then you will need to give it some attention.
