ParticipantHi, i have just bought my first house and have always wanted an american style fridge freezer. I have been putting some money away and have a budget of £1000 so far.
I have been looking in currys, comet etc and was thinking of a samsung unit however i have heard of some horrer stories and it has really put me off. I am now wondering if i should really be looking for one?
Can anyone recommened one in the £1000 budget. I dont want to go much over this as i still have to buy new washing machine, microwave, dishwasher etc
thanks for your help

KeymasterBase model GE is (or was) about £1100 and is a good bet.
I wouldn’t recommend the Korean efforts as I don’t like them. 😉

Participantthankyou for the very quick reply, i will see if i can have a look at the GE models.
Do you think the base model would be any good or should i forget the idea?

Na, the base model is still a pretty good machine. Lacks all the whizz bang features and the flashy lights, but then, are they really needed?

well i managed to get out today and have a look at some of the GE range 1 models i can make my budget stretch to which is the GE GC23LDC, would i be wise to save up for the GE PC23NB model which is around 400 more?
if i am spending £1500 though are there any other models i should look at?
Thanks for your help,

KeymasterAt that price I’d stick with GE as you won’t get much better till north of £2k IMO unless you can pick up a real Maytag, one without the water filter in the grill but inside the fridge.

i have found a MAYTAG GS2625GEKB for £1600 it had a water filter in the door. It has a lot more space than the GE.
How do you think this would compare with the GE PC23NB which was £1450

Close call that one both good machines, if it were me I`d probably go with the Maytag for the capacity.
