ParticipantWe have been selling Amica cookers for a year or so now and have probably sold 50-60. In the last 2 weeks we have had 3 complaints that the doors have fallen apart. On the one I have inspected there is a small bead of silicone holding the frame to the front glass and this has let go causing the inner glass to drop out as well. I have referred all three customers to Amica to get the doors replaced under warranty and so far have heard no more.
Does anyone here that repairs these cookers know wether they will just change the whole door or go off and order any broken bits then re seal it?
A lot of these went to student houses and im dreading the calls demanding refunds if it takes too long to sort it!October 8, 2010 at 6:19 pm #332424cornwell40

S’easy enough to sort out if its just the inner glass seal if they get too ratty.
I use Sersil1 from Connect. Clean up the door, good bead of sealant in the ridge and clamp the door overnight.
not sure if the seal would be covered under warranty though:?TC.

Maybe worth temp testing the oven and looking at a cause other than poor materials or build, adhesives should/do have the ability to withstand normal temp’s + a bit extra, could be a user error, such as placing hot objects on the door, does happen or there forgetting to switch off the oven over night, also happens, especially in student property.
Its a simply fix to re glue the door I use Ambersil 1008A, takes temp up to 300 degrees.

KeymasterIt’s the plastic holders at the top that go from what I’ve seen of them so far.
There’s a story to it that I will regale of an evening (the next meeting) over a light libation. 😉
It’s amusing and, scary.

A certain group has oven’s who’s timer mounts are sliding down due to poor adhesive that does soft when hot. 😆
Has been sold to several well know brands. :rolls:
