I had a call last night from a customer saying that her machine, a Hotpoint WM83 was making a strange buzzing noise all the time, even when switched off. She said that as she had a hearing aid it made the noise seem much louder and was driving her to distraction. I asked if the noise continued when the machine was unplugged and both taps turned off, she insisted the noise was still there. I told her that as there was no battery back up on this machine, it could not possibly be causing the noise. She is an older lady and was obviously upset so I called this morning. Sure enough I to could here a faint buzzing noise. I opened the cupboard at the side of the machine and found a small ‘ Lady Shaver’ buzzing away merrily in a small metal tray in the cupboard, how it had switched on is a mystery but the batteries must be exceptional, it had been running for 48 hours. 😀

A few years ago I got called to W/M that would not pump out. Ten minuets into the job I discover a condom stuck in the pump!. OK here I am wondering how to explain to the lady what I found, not having the courage I slipped the condom into the pedal bin. Great I thought, when I heard a voice from behind me,” what did you find wrong with the machine and what did you put into the bin”. Quick thinking (unusuall for me) I replyed oh it was just a foreign body out of the pump, wrong answer. She then opened the bin and recovered the condom, the ONLY item in an empy bin!!!! The next comment I did not expect from her,
” The Bars***d we dont use these wait till I see him.Oh to be a fly on that wall that night

Zanussi TC484W t/dryer, complaint: “Takes well over 4 hours to dry a few towels and they come out all tangled…its been like it for several months now!”
Cause: The belt broke long ago and she never noticed the drum wasn’t turning and the clothes she threw in the dryer in a tangled heap, just sat there all the while!!!!!!! 🙄

Many years ago whilst at Hotpoint I got a call to an elderly lady’s tumble dryer, complaining of poor drying performance. ” I’ve had it on for over 2 hours and it doesn’t dry, I put it on for 10 minutes, then another 10 minutes, then another 10″………………. 😀

I went to an old Philips 099a yesterday but I couldn’t extract the machine from under the worktop. Due to the fact that the concrete weights have disintegrated and formed a concrete mountain under the machine, wedging it against the ceramic tiles that are butted up to the baseplate!
The customer will have to get the worktop removed before he can dump it!February 8, 2006 at 5:01 pm #113753Bryan

Having just read this one in the public forum http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ic&t=11926 it reminded me of the time someone phoned me asking if I could supply him with a door filter for his tumble dryer. I told him that I didn`t but recommended he contacted the local spares retailer. He said he had already been to them and although they had the part in stock he was only willing to pay about £7 and they were charging him £9 😆 🙄 .

A wise shopkeeper (Called Arkwright) would no doubt reply “We will be selling them at £7 tomorrow, but as they are only £9 today I expect we’ll be sold out by then!” 😆
