We are always looking for ideas to raise the profile of UK Whitegoods and every time I visit Gob Chites er I mean Kevins house I am always tripping over another one of his awards So why dont we explore, research and investigate the posibility of promoting the annual UK Whitegoods awards to the independent trade.
The prime reason that UK Whitegoods was set up in the first place was to promote and raise the profile of the independent domestic appliace servicing companies within the Domestic appliance industry.
We are, lets face it, the biggest noise thats going on in this trade an have been regarded as the trades main daily newspaper/magazine for some time now.
So we should act like one and set our sights on promoting a National Premier Annual Award Ceremony for the trade.
We should develope it to the point where it those in attendence should read like the WHO’S WHO directory of the domestic appliance trade.It would’nt do our own image any harm either and might encourage some of the many repairers within the M25 corral to get on board with us, as they have been quite conspicuous by their absence thius far with a few exceptions
I’m pretty sure that we could sell the idea to P&G and others to help sponsor the event.
Why should this always be left to insurance companies to milk and reap the qudos. If there is mileage to be had out of such an event then it should be by the trade and of the trade not the leeches and paracites who have helped to wreck it.
We could have shit loads of titles like:-
Firm of the year, best supplier of the year, best work provider of the year, best newcomer of the year, best trainer of the year, best poster of the year, best moderator of the year, best manufacturer of the year. etc etc
Dont go mad its only an idea but I still think it’s a good one

I saw the joke one in the whitegoods forum but i’m talkin about a serious affair where we hook a lot of the bigger names we want to see at our venues by saying that they’ve been nominated for an award. doesn’t mean that there going to win it it but might be enough to get bums on seat’s.
We must realise that keeping peoples attention and the way that our presentations have improved over the last few meeting has as much to do with show biz as content. I just belive that doing this properly is a way
of bringing more bods along to whitegoods is all.We must now realise that we have outgrown Sibson and we’ve broKe the cherry of getting people to help sponsor our meetings so we have to get biggrer and better and this is simply another attraction if done correctly.
I’m not talking about a few T shirts in cans.

That link refers to the competition that we were going to run to help us quantify and demonstrate the need for training in the trade, that was a seperate subject entirely

No Sean, that only started the concept of an annual award/s that I ran past Wardle a few weeks ago and he ok’d it.
I keep telling you, too much to remember and update on. 😉
