I’m pretty sure it was the inlet valve (overfilling) So I pinched a cold water inlet from an old washing machine and plumbed it in. But alas the valve isn’t opening, so its either goosed or I’ve got the wires for the juice wrong 😯

Before I go messing again, do these water inlets have a generic power hookup for example they are all + on the left peg and – on the right……

    Cheers

It doesn’t matter which way round you connect a fill valve solenoid, you should test the solenoid with a meggar or multimeter to determine if it is OK.

So if I tried the power wires in reverse on the solenoid it wouldn’t go bang right?

Correct, but if its not working now then swapping them over will make no difference at all.

The only way to be certain is to test the circuit to and from the valve and the valve itself with suitable test equipment, with the mains plug out at all times.
