Another Hotpoint Mistral problem – sorry!!!

Firstly – WHY couldn’t I have found this site a week ago!! and secondly please be patient with me as I don’t mind admitting to being a female whose electrical expertise can just about stretch to changing a plug.

I have a Mistral Plus 8596 which started to show really high fridge temperatures last week but the freezer remained at a steady -22. An engineer came out and replaced the two thermistors (there are no codes on the two he replaced – they just have a green and a yellow connection and he has written Thermistors fan & Evap on the bill). Problem is things are now ten times more erratic. I keep getting an E2 code. If I switch off at the plug and then restart with the fridge door open I’m told that the freezer is running at temps from +24 to +50???? and the fan keeps stopping and starting. Also the Engineer has gone all Lord Lucan on me so I’m rather stressed 😥

Any advice would be much appreciated.
