ParticipantI am in the (painful) process of getting the details of a new kitchen correct for my lovely wife. The kitchen company is suggesting all sorts of appliances that I have no idea who makes or how good they are, bundled into the kitchen. They are suggesting an AEG SK718404i tall (larder do you call it?) fridge that is to be built into a floor to ceiling (almost) cupboard.
Do AEG make reasonable fridges? My current fridge/freezer is a Bosch of some 5 years standing and has been fine by me. Any other suggestions?
I just have this sneaking feeling that they are trying to flog the kitchen cupboards cheap and make their money in other ways…
All advice much appreciated!
Thanks.

KeymasterAEG is made by the Electrolux Group. There’s far worse out there but do research the prices. 😉

Hi
Before you give them the order for the 718404i, that model is not a larder fridge in the true sense of the word 😉 it has a freezer over the fridge as shown here http://www.biasco.com/?gtkw=SK718404I The model number for the larder is SK918004i http://www.biasco.com/?gtkw=SK918004I
edit I forgot to add this http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … age&pid=17 which may help you choose.

Don: Thanks for pointing out I was potentially about to buy a fridge/freezer when I wanted a larder fridge 😳 ! £600-ish seems quite a lot for a fridge but I would rather spend £600 and have it see out a good 5-10 years + than spend £200 and have grief.
Kwatt: So AEG/Electrolux are considered an OK bet. That is good to know. At least the kitchen company are not trying to shift me rubbish!
Anybody got any suggestions of other larder fridges I should consider?
Is £600-ish the sort of price I need to pay for a reasonable larder fridge likely to last a good few years? Thanks!

Hi
Bosch / Neff group make mighty fine appliances as do Miele if you can afford to go the extra mile.
