😳 Had a quick look at a mates mums vac at the weekend Hoover U3460. The handle part (riser, stem, upright part??) will not disengage with the base when you press the foot switch, so it’s upright all the time. Looking in at the rear it looks like the latch on the footswitch had broken part of the inner baseplate effectively relocking it when you push the switch down.
Looking at the pics on Qualtex etc I can’t see the latch hole which locks the base so not as sure now. Would I be right ordering the chassis for this one or is something else attached which can cause it.
Only nipping back next week but want to go back with parts if poss.
Don’t do vacs normally so I think I may have assumed too much on this 😳 .

    Any vacuum cleaner experts???

    Hi tony

It’s usually just the small foot switch release that breaks on these, although I have had a few where the motor retaining bands have snapped away from the chassis base… If you find the handle moves from side to side more than is normal… It’s BER!

    Hope this helps

Usually just the foot pedal or the chassis cracked, pretty poor design. Later ones the chassis was beefed up a little.
