ParticipantI have an APM 8702 Intergrated washer / dryer, its less than a yr old
so I’m guessing I should call out the engineer, just thought I would
post here for some advice 1stWe already had to call out the service guy a couple of months ago –
the tumble dryer had stopped working, turned out it was the thermostat
was loose and it was touching the machine somewhere so that was no
problem to sort out. At the same time the machine had been and is
still a bit fierce when its spinning, sometimes it knocks quite loudly
– The knocking seems to come from the weights at the bottom of the
machine hitting the metal work – I have spent ages making sure that
the machine is as level as it can be and we always put in even loads
and don’t overload it. We have floorboards throughout the house so I
have put the machine on a sheet of ply to make it as even as possible.
The thing is it really is quite loud on full spin and you can really
feel it when you are sitting in the front room..When I mentioned this (in passing) to the engineer he said it seemed
quite well balanced and just to be careful not to put in towels on their own etc but since then it has got worseIs this something we just have to put up with from this machine or do you think that its something that could be sorted out by an engineer?
thanks in advance 🙂

Well we have just had the engineer round and he said there is nothing we can do about it – just have to put up with it! 🙁
For a new machine that we spent 500 quid on this is not satisfactory so we will be contacting the retailer to see what we can do.
Any advice would be welcome on what we can do here, we don’t mind spending a bit more and upgrading the machine assuming that we get a refund. The engineer said because of where the counter weights are situated in this machine i.e. at the front – this is why we get the banging..

Ask them to fit the suspension kit part number SUSKIT1 as that solves most “tapping on spin” noises 😉

Thanks Dave! Is SUSKIT1 a generic device or is it specifically for our model? Thanks again, Andy

It’s generic for all machines manufactured by Merloni (AKA Servis in the UK) of that type, the part number is MFI’s 🙂

Dave – you’re a diamond 😉 Just spoken to MFI service and they are ordering the part and the engineer will be fitting it next Thursday.
Which begs the question why didn’t they do it originally? If it wasn’t for you telling me I would have been none the wiser..
Anyway will report back on Thurs
Thanks again
