ParticipantHi,
I have a Diplomat APM 8702, I’ve had problems with this machine in the past (it’s had 2 new pumps now – one every 12 months). The pump is working fine at the moment (last changed Sept 2008) but now it has stopped doing it’s final spin. It seems to wash OK, drum turns OK, but never goes to fast spin.
Any ideas what the problem might be ?
Also, any suggestions on a decent replacement integrated washer dryer ?
Something more reliable that can actually dry clothes ?Cheers 😉

Participantwhat did you try to spin?

ParticipantIt had 3 large towels in when we noticed it wasn’t spinning – figured it could be due to a large load or due to the load being “out of balance” (although I don’t understand what that means LOL)
So we just washed a couple of Tshirts, no spin 🙁

when u fill it up on a wash cycle does the drum start to turn before the water gets to the door seal rim? if it don,t u got a presure chamber blockage or you find it don,t allways fill when u turn it on .
don,t forget right hand side of the dial full spin long programe, left hand side of the dial short delicates programes half spin.
c) is top spin
or could be out of balanced try a full load fill it on 5 then stick it on c .
could be faulty module they do fail alot.
could be conection in the connection blocks not making great contact on to the boards.
could be very high resistance in the element very rare tho heared of it never had it tho.
ps all washer dryers suck they will never beat two seprate machines, but its 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} better than hanging them up if u got no room for a dryerFebruary 8, 2009 at 11:25 pm #276726swancu
ParticipantThanks for the replies – will go through them tomorrow 😉
Just wanted to know your opinions on the Hotpoint BHWD129 ?
It does seem like a more effiicient machine and I doubt it could be less reliable than the one I have…
Looks like I can get one for £380 including them taking my old machine away.
Doesn’t seem very “green” but I should have realised I’d get rubbish when I ordered all the electricals with the new kitchen (MFI) lesson learnt 🙁

Built-ins are a headache – the choice is rather limited. The Hotpoint suggested is an Indesit, which, with a quick Search of this forum will reveal it as a star member of “The Not Very Good Club of Great Britain”; or even Italy. On a budget, Lux group built-ins are adequate, SMEG is better but eccentric (Don’t put one on a wooden floor – the earth will move and not in the way you’d like…..). BSH Group (NEFF/Bosch/Seimens) is your best bet. Dearer, but you will get what you are prepared to pay for.
Don is the expert. Find a few models that might suit and he’ll advise your best pick.

ParticipantI know the dryers on these combo thiings are pants but I didn’t want to spend >£400 unless I know it REALLY dries clothes.
We currently have a seperate white knight ? tumble drier taking up room in the kitchen because the combi has always been poor.
That scabby £150 tumble dryer dries stuff in 30-40 mins the combi takes 90 mins and it’s still not dry 🙁
I’m looking at the Electrolux L11842VIT (£585 @ Lewis’s – hopefully find it cheaper elsewhere)
How is that one ?
I’ve also looked at the
Bosch WVTI2842GB £860 ish
Siemens WDI1442GB £880 ish
Neff V5340X2GB £860 isFebruary 10, 2009 at 9:49 pm #276730swancu
ParticipantRe: APM 8702 not spinning
Just tried it again – did a quick wash (E) and it didn’t spin, so I put it on for a 1200 Spin (C) and it did it…
Have put another medium load in on a normal wash (5) will see what happens 😕

We’ve told you. Dodgy Italian electronics and a hypersensitive OOB circuit. Which is part of the electronics…..
