Hi there, I have an APM 8702 combined washer drier which suddenly decided to turn our kitchen into a swimming pool 😥

By looking through previous posts have narrowed it down to the pressure switch, having checked all hoses for blockages I noticed the gray wire [see attached pics] was disconnected.

When machine starts its cycle no water enters the machine until I disconnect this gray wire, leaving it off overflows the washer :taz:

Can I assume that the switch itself is faulty, and if it has gone where can I get the part number and a replacement.

Im in Scotland, ML7 5RB, Harthill, near Bathgate.

    Thanks in advance 😀

    Thanks penguin :salute:

Dont know how the wire became loose, but seems funny that it doesnt work when reconnected.

Gray wires do go together dont they ??

    Cheers

    Two greys go together.

Have you tested the switch to see if it does the “clicky” thing?

Have taken switch off, blowing and sucking on it makes the correct noises, as in pressure on, pressure off.

Can it be electrically tested off the machine ??

The three tags in a line are a make and break switch – one tag is common. The tag in the middle is the flood protection over-ride, which needs an “overblow” to make its connection.

I would replace the pressure switch anyway – they can become “sticky” in operation – they can also carbonise internally, allowing strange electrical pathways………

No – do not attempt to adjust the pressure switch………

    What’s the problem now?

No probs m8, just wondered why they were there and what controlled what.
    Just for reference 😉

p.s. machine running smoothly again after changing the switch, had to wait a bit tho thanks to our “friends at royal mail” 😡

Spent a few weekends in front of the machine manually switching wires, which I dont recommend to anyone :zap:

They control the “tipping point” for the lever switches inside – the setting is crucial for correct operation, so often there is a blob of paint to seal the unit.

    Glad you got there,
