APM6855 fridge temp – again!

I’ve endured this for ages, usual problem: fridge temp going up, temporarily sorted by defrosting fridge/freezer for 48 hours (24 hours in warm weather when my kitchen warms up!).

Used to happen every few months, then about every month, now it’s down to two weeks, so is getting far worse!

Does this point to a DEFINITE part fault? I mean, I understand that this can be caused by the fan, thermistor, etc but does this worsening of the problem indicate for definite that it is, say, the thermistor?

If it is that, is this the right thermistor to replace the existing one with:

Also, haven’t looked at the back yet, but how ‘easy’ is it to access once I pull out the fridge freezer and get to the back of the unit?

Only a multimeter will tell the condition of the parts out of circuit.
Power off if you are going in.

I guess the only way to access it is through the back? There’s no hidden panels inside that will save me having to drag out the (fitted) unit? I don’t mind doing that to fit the part, just trying to avoid it ‘just’ for testing, only to have to push it back in (a tricky job!) then pull it back out again to fit the part. 🙂

BTW, is the part I linked to going to be the correct type if the original is indeed faulty?

Pointless buying spares before you ascertain whats faulty.
Could be,defrost heater which needs a meter to check.
Easy to go in from the front of the freezer as all is behind false back in freezer,thermistors and thermal cut outs are in there too.
SWITCH OFF AND UNPLUG FIRST !!

Thanks. So how do you remove the false back from the front of the unit?

Is it in the fridge or freezer compartment?

Take out the food and look for screws holding the plastic back liner,possibly 6 or 8 usually.
It will then pull forward,if there is frost around you may have to use a hairdryer to warm up and free the back,there may be also a 2″ thick piece of insulation behind the back.You should then see the evaporator assembly and it’s compnents.
Switch off and unplug first.
