ParticipantCan anyone help me age this old Belling Cooker Hood?
As usual the, the visor end caps have failed. The bits that hold glass visor in.
The parts are obsolete (you can get brown ones but not white). The Landlord is being , let’s say less than helpful and trying to sting the tenants for a new cooker hood to be fitted.
If some kind person could give an approxiate date they stopped making these that would be great. Or in the case of a minor miracle, if anyone has got or knows where I can get a set of white visor end caps that would be brilliant.
Thanks

As a guess the hood is nearly 20+ years old and the tenant would have a field day in court if the landlord wanted to push his luck.
These are a wear and tear part and plastic heated up over years goes brittle simple fact.
Tell the tenant the truth that its wear and tear and offer to put into writing that the landlord refused to replace with brown ends and the tenant isn’t liable and if you do the report FOC good for you or offer to do it for £10 to cover your time..Your not lying.

Thanks R600a,
That’s all I wanted was a second opinion on the date.
I’ve explained the whole wear and tear and heat thing etc. I’ve left it with the letting agent and offered to to write the letter – that was a good idea – thanks.
The agents, believe it or not, are getting rid of his business. Now that’s a rarerity, a letting agency with morals. He’s too much of a pain to the tentants and agency and unreasonable in the extreme as this example shows.
