ParticipantAppears completely dead. Wont switch on at all.
Another semi-national company has been out to it already and written it off as a pcb control board blown, possible main board failure too. Customers after second opinion as hes worried the engineer might not have been as experienced as others (“didnt even look old enough to be driving”) we already suggested they try hotpoint but said they already did but all hotpoint suggested was to try some magic washing machine powder (dr feelgood or something) which did nothing…
From what i gather from the customer, the engineer was more interested in selling them a new miele, even before he unscrewed anything as he over-egged his groan when he saw it was a hotpoint. apparently checked it for power to the display board, meggared it and insulation tested it then wrote it off – as the new disp board on his computer was £260, and it “probably” needs new pcb at the rear, which was quoted as £140, and “i wouldnt spend £400 on a hotpoint, there always going wrong”. Personally i never poo-poo a customers machine cos you just dont know where it might have been bought from as it would be extremely embarrassing if it turns out its your own business…
Anyways we nipped up to have a look at it as we were delivering a washer just around the corner from them, and i cant say i can see any noticeable board issues, no dry tracks no burn marks, not even a carbon attraction anywhere on the display or main pcb.
At no point on the engineers sheet did it mention the noticeable amount of soap powder crusitng around the outside of the joint of the dispenser to the drum fill tube, and the considerable powder residue coating over the thermal lock. also customer tells us it was making repeated clacking noises on its last few washes before it went totally dead. Nor apparently was the lid even taken off, which begs me to wonder how he knew there wasnt any power going to the display board? 😕
Now im not questioning the engineers final diagnosis, but even at connects prices i thought the quote was a bit steep, esp as the engineer collected a cheque for the call out for £60 after spending 15 minutes there. So was wondering whether anyones had any success with emw’s boards on aqualtis’s, or is it really a lost cause. also if any of the indesit techs on here know of any known issues, in particular with the loom between the display board and the connection block in the top right of the front of the carcass, because its really low guage cable.
model is aqxxl129pm, early 2007 date stamped model, but sold by currys only 22 months ago.
edit: definitely power going into machine as i got a shock cos i didnt realise the machines hardwire socket was wired to the switch above the worktop labeled “dishwasher”… 😳
