I’m sure the drain pump is faulty – I can’t see any debris around the rotor. Often the machine will not drain at the start of a programme but if I remove the pump rotor cover and give it a spin, close the door and try again, it will start draining.
I’m not affraid of having a go at pump replacement – I’ve had the side panels off before for another problem. Can anyone tell me how to gain access to the drain pump?

This is the one you want:

As you can see, it’s a twist fit and you need to access from underneath. Power off, of course :plug:

I took the pump out today and found the plastic casing that the armature rotates in was full of water and rubber deposits from the coating of the armature. Cleaned it all out, put some graphite grease at the back of the casing for lubrication of the armature spindle and applied some silicon sealer to stop water from entering again – hopefully !
I’ll leave the sealer to dry 48hrs before using the machine. If it fails again, I’ll buy a new pump.

Just to let anyone who is interested in this thread know the outcome…. all seems fine! Only time will tell whether I should have invested in a new pump. If it lasts a couple of years, the machine will be getting on for ten years old – so it will have done well.
